Welcome to Julia the Chemistry Tutor!
​I am Julia Maak. I specialize in personalized chemistry tutoring services, in-person or online, for undergraduate and high-school level chemistry students as well as dosage calculations for nursing students.
​
I have a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Northern Colorado. I worked in industry doing nutritional analysis for five years before changing my career to education. I retired from Sierra College in Northern California where I worked for a little over 20 years prepping chemistry labs on three campuses, assisting instructors in labs, and tutoring our General and Allied Health Chemistry courses.

I have a plethora of experience tutoring thousands of students. I have heard every question asked in every possible way. I know multiple ways of explaining the topics to help you understand and utilize the information to pass your Chemistry courses. ​I believe every student should be able to pass chemistry and enjoy the journey!​

Because of Julia, I was at the top of each of the classes (something that is not typical for me in general, let alone in a Chemistry class!)

Julia was my chemistry tutor when I was taking my prerequisites for acceptance to nursing school.
Having only my GED, and without ever having taken chemistry in high school, I had a difficult road ahead of me. My acceptance into nursing school was dependent on the grades I got from my prerequisites, and I was competing with people who had actually finished high school. I literally had one shot to get it right.
Fortunately I found Julia, and because of her I got straight A’s and was accepted to two different nursing schools. I was the only person in my cohort who did not have a high school diploma.
Julia not only made chemistry feel easy, she made it fun. I enjoyed my weekly sessions with her, and gained the confidence I would need to make it through nursing school.
Now, some 15 years later, I am a nurse practitioner, and will be opening my own practice soon. And it all started with Julia. I am forever grateful!
